Hanoi, the heritage capital of the country, accommodated expansion pressure by targeting key areas north and west of the existing centre as development corridors. The New Town project of 7,580 ha and developed around the shores of Dam Van Tri Lake, will become the second CBD and centre for new technology industry, as well as desirable pedestrian scaled neighbourhoods. This new development is a robust satellite urban business centre that establishes an idyllic setting for new business and lifestyle by preserving existing villages, farmlands, and blue corridors. These elements provided resilience against the constant threat of flooding while setting the stage for landmark commercial development for the capital city of Hanoi.
