By focusing on the fundamental objectives, rather than on a single fringe cluster remote from Hong Kong’s present cultural strengths, Swire has developed its vision to create a living Cultural Harbour, opening world-class facilities near to existing arts venues, breathing new life and vitality into existing clusters and transforming Hong Kong into Asia’s World City of Culture. Through this broader focus, West Kowloon will host the cultural facilities such as the Performance Venue and Piazzas that are less needy of synergy with the existing cultural facilities and where they will benefit from, and be enhanced by, spectacular views of the Hong Kong skyline. Swire, therefore, proposes to deliver a new, waterfront, public Harbour Park and signature mixed-use sustainable development in a verdant setting, coupled with four Piazzas and a Water Amphitheatre on the West Kowloon peninsula.
