Hangzhou Digital Television (HDTV) Industry Base represents a significant new high-tech production and media centre in China. A centre for innovation and the progression of ideas, it is supplemented by a critical mass of talented individuals coming together within a singular community to create, share, and test ideas, which are then broadcast throughout China. This Conceptual Masterplan envisions an environment that attracts the creative, bold, and ambitious by creating a framework spread over 62 hectares, within which landmark buildings and a variety of great open spaces make for a truly special place. Shared public amenities, both a formal and informal park, a pedestrianized street with cafes, and various plazas, engender interaction and a sense of community, while parcelization allows for insular and secure decision-making and innovation behind closed doors. A program that allows for production, editing, and design to support HDTV’s operations base, enhanced by the innovation of signature research and development tenants, is all pulled together by a community street with retail, food and beverage, and public open spaces to produce a signature, high-profile, high-tech development that showcases the very best of China’s talent and ambition.
