The plan begins with the implementation of the two eastern islands facing Hong Kong to create a new balanced workplace and lifestyle destination for Hong Kong’s west side, with a variety of residential opportunities to satisfy the urgent needs of the Hong Kong people, allowing them to live close to new jobs. Within an integrated block development strategy, the plan provides destination office, retail, and community services above a multi-level transportation corridor. Three of the five Aquapolis islands will establish an integrated mixed-use development strategy. At the core of each is a transit-oriented development node that provides vibrant workplace and commercial amenity space. Urban residential is then arranged in a stepped form from the center to the waterfront. At the edge of these urban development blocks, the residential and commercial amenities and public (GIC) provisions face the waterfronts with a respectful scale, bowing in graceful recognition of the beauty of the protected green-blue corridors that become a key symbol of island lifestyle.
