With the decision to relocate the ship building industry to Chongming Island, the first stage of the Huangpu River Masterplan can now be truly realized. This will be the first opportunity to bring people and activity to the waterfront in a mixed-use “live-work-play” environment As the traditional shipyards are being relocated off of the Huangpu River, the Shipyards site is envisioned to become a high-end residential, commercial and entertainment district in Pudong, with its waterfront promenade as a main public attraction. The site is strategically located next to the Pudong Central Business District. It consists of 69.15 ha total land area with 43.77 ha immediately available for redevelopment. Under the CSSC redevelopment goals, the site is divided into three land use zones: - Commercial / Entertainment - Residential - Waterfront Open Space
