The Desheng New Town Masterplan in Beijing is an exciting new urban technology park that will respect the presence of the historic Desheng Gate and the axis road leading to it. The Masterplan incorporates these important urban design principles: Create an interconnected large-scale urban development; Use landmark architecture to create a gateway symbol that strengthens the formality of the axis; Creating three distinctive urban spaces along the main axis: active, intimate and formal. A landscaped addressing boulevard is developed parallel to the main axis that organizes traffic within Desheng District. All buildings fronting the main axis are connected by an all-season retail corridor and pedestrian bridge network. The Technology buildings are carefully placed to respect and enhance the formality of the historic axis while strengthening the visual connection to the Desheng Gate.
