In Southeast Asia, there is growing pressure to accommodate people seeking unique travel experiences. Eco-tourism, nature retreat packages, and wellness holidays are topping the list of desirable experiences for the well-traveled — young and old. The culture of resorts is changing from a “one-off” holiday visit to repeat customers and some “long-stay” and “second home” clientele. The Masterplan for this unique setting accomplishes the following objectives in light of the new demand: 1. Establishes an ecologically sensitive development and construction approach. 2. Caters to a “wellness retreat” return customer and longer-stay customer base. 3. Creates a series of architectural experiences that are memorable, set a “sense of place” for the visitor, and beckon the visitor to return.
